Scientists have found that anger is bad for blood vessels

by Anna Kaczmarczyk

280 people took part in the study. They had to remember some incident that made them angry or anxious, read a sad text or repeatedly count to 100.

At the same time, experts monitored the condition of the cells that lined the participants’ blood vessels. Measurements were taken before the study, during it, as well as after 3, 40, 70 and 100 min.

Memories provoking bouts of anger worsened the dilation of blood vessels and the negative effect lasted up to 40 minutes. But due to sadness and anxiety, the state of blood vessels did not change.
